The Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi addressed an assembly on the AYUSH and Yoga awards on the next day of launching the Fit India movement. He was invited to give away Yoga Awards to the winners for Outstanding Contribution for Promotion and Development of Yoga in New Delhi.

He said that AYUSH and Yoga are the two pillars of Fit India movement.

PM Modi emphasized the importance of Ayurveda, Yoga and Pranayama in his own life to overcome all the obstacles he faces daily.

He said the government has set a target of creating12,500 AYUSH centres across India. Out of these, he plans to set up 4000 centres by the end of this year.

The Prime Minister said that Mahatma Gandhi advocated Naturopathy as a way of living. He was happy that “Sowa-Rigpa” had become a part of AYUSH after Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy. He also released 12 commemorative postal stamps to honour the Great Master Healers of AYUSH Systems.

He has launched 10 new AYUSH health and wellness centres in Haryana today. The CM of Haryana has been visiting all parts of Haryana to check on the amenities there. The main focus of these AYUSH centres is to empower the community for self-care by adopting the AYUSH lifestyle.
